Mayor and Councilmembers

The Braselton Town Council meets in voting session on the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Braselton Police & Municipal Court Building.

They discuss the items on which they will vote in a Work Session the Thursday before the second Monday at 4 p.m. in the Braselton Police & Municipal Court Building.

Mayor Bill OrrMayor Bill Orr
TERM: January 2018 - December 2021
Bill Orr begins his third term as Mayor. He graduated from Johnson High School in Hall County and earned a B.B.A with honors from the University of Georgia. He also earned an MSIA/MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. He and his wife (Garol) own and operate 101 Mobility of Georgia from their Braselton office. He is also a founding member of Yonah Energy LLC while spending most of his career with Exxon, Conoco and the Southern Company. Bill and Garol have two daughters and are active in the community through service as Mayor, local businesses, and volunteer activities.

District 1 :Councilmember Becky Richardson

TERM: January 2020 - December 2023

Becky Richardson was elected to the Town Council in November, 2015, and took office in January, 2016. Since finishing school, she has been employed with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company where she has managed medical billing for over thirty years. Becky and her husband, Ralph, are well established lifelong residents of Braselton. She is excited for the opportunity to serve on the Town Council, and one of her many goals is to serve her community by strengthening the links between town residents and the government that serves them.

District 2 :Councilmember Peggy Slappey

TERM: January 2018 - December 2021

Peggy Slappey began her third term on the Council in January. She is a licensed broker and owner of Peggy Slappey Properties, Inc., and a third generation REALTOR. She is a leader in her industry through the Northeast Atlanta Metro Association of Realtors and the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association. She has built and sustained a culture of service in her life and profession and believes fervently in giving back to the community and industry which has provided so much for her. Peggy and her husband have lived in Braselton for seventeen years; they have two married sons and five grandgirls.

Councilmember Jim JoedeckeDistrict 3 : James C. (Jim) Joedecke, Jr.
TERM: January 2020 - December 2023

Jim Joedecke, a native of New York, is a graduate of Emory University and the University of Georgia School of Law.  He is a partner at the law firm of Andersen, Tate & Carr of Duluth where he has practiced since 1998.  He is a member and past president of the Braselton Rotary Club, past member of the town’s Ethics Commission, a board member of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia, a board member of the Winder YMCA, and a longtime coach of the South Gwinnett High Mock Trial team.  Jim and Stephanie have lived in Braselton since 2007 years and have three children.


District 4 :Councilmember Hardy Johnson
Hardy Johnson
TERM: January 2018- December 2021

Hardy Johnson began his initial term on the Council in January 2018. The south Georgia native earned B. B. A. and Masters’ degrees from Georgia State University. Hardy worked at Titan America and Tarmac America, rising to president of its Florida unit for twenty years. He worked in ready-mixed concrete, cement, aggregates and blocks industry for forty-seven years. He and his wife retired to Braselton. They have two children and four grandchildren. He takes great pride in his community involvement with the Northeast GA Medical Center Foundation, Boy Scouts and, prior to his election, the Braselton Downtown Development Authority. He is dedicated to Braselton being a great place to live, learn, work and play.
